Bio

I grew up in New York City (b. 1963) and lived there, after a decade or so elsewhere, from 2003 through 2015.  Now I spend most of my time in Berlin.  I am blessed to have five beautiful kids, garden (when I have a backyard), write and make collages.  I worked as a musician, home renovator, environmental activist, commercial fisherman, elevator operator, and now as a professor of history and religion.

In 2016 I founded the Jewish Activism Summer School (Berlin): www.jassberlin.org. In 2019 I founded the Green Sabbath Project: www.greensabbathproject.net.
